About L'Amuse Chez Kate

At L’Amuse Chez Kate, guests can experience the beauty of the Gower Peninsula through intimate, private cookery courses designed to inspire, delight and bring people together. Welcoming groups of four to eight, these culinary experiences are ideal for friends, family celebrations, special occasions or simply those looking to enjoy something a little different.


Hosted by chef Kate Probert, each course combines expert tuition with a relaxed and convivial atmosphere. Kate’s passion for food, wealth of knowledge and approachable teaching style ensure that every guest feels inspired and confident in the kitchen, whatever their level of experience.


A L’Amuse cookery experience offers the perfect opportunity to learn new culinary skills, create delicious dishes and enjoy exceptional food in beautiful surroundings. Meet your host, Kate.

L'Amuse Chez Kate is one of South Wales' finest cookery schools based on the beautiful Gower Peninsula.

 Having been owner/chef of one of Swansea's finest restaurants for seven years, Kate has developed a reputation for perfect preparation, precise presentation and consistent delivery of quality cuisine. Kate also worked as head chef in one of Gower's finest hotel restaurants (Fairyhill Country House) which won numerous accolades under her supervision from the start in 1983 until 1989.


Kate opened her own restaurant, "L'Amuse" in 1995 which she ran for 7 years - creating one of Swansea's finest tables.

Kate has also done extensive work in France: Chamonix, Aix-les-Bains and St Gervais and gained experience with Albert Roux at Le Gavroche and Marco Pierre-White at Harvey's.

Kate enjoys sharing her passion for gastronomy with others.
